   Lahaina Today

Lahaina, just down the road from Kaanapali, is one of Hawaii’s most historic and popular destinations.  Throughout its long history it has been the setting for many wonderful experiences: a place where fond memories are created, and cherished for a lifetime.

Always prized for its beauty and warm climate, Lahaina town has been the royal capital, a playground of kings and queens, a whaling boomtown and now a world famous visitor attraction.

Nestled in the center of Lahaina Town, right down from the famous Banyan Tree, you will find the Lahaina Harbor.  The Harbor is also a favorite spot for local surfers.

International cruise ships anchor in the Lahaina waters while their touring passengers come to shore for a day of sightseeing and shopping.

Strolling along the famous Front street one is confronted with a veritable kaleidoscope of outdoor marketplaces, arts and crafts, jewelry stores, knick-knack shops, clothing, boutiques and dozens of t-shirt shops.

Lahaina also happens to be the restaurant capital of the island, boasting over 30 different restaurants and eateries that offer a variety of cuisines in settings ranging from casual to elegant.

It’s all here, Pacific Rim bistros; family style pizzerias, classic seafood houses, god old hamburger joints; local style eateries; European cafes; even themed restaurants.

Many of these dining establishments offer some of the best ocean views and outdoor settings in the island.

Along the front street seawall, people gather to watch the setting sun light up the sky with colors.  It’s the perfect way to start off an exciting evening in Lahaina.

With great Luaus and world-renowned stage performances, you can enjoy and amazing entertainment experience.

A great weekly event is “Friday Night is Art Night”.  Art galleries and most businesses stay open late.  Many of the featured artists in those galleries show up to paint and meet with art lovers and friends.  It’s a great way to spend a Friday night.

If you like a little more action, check out Lahaina's hip bar and club scene.  Dance the night away to the music of local entertainers and international music guests.
Throughout the year Lahaina plays host to several special events like the King Kamehameha Day parade and celebration, which honors Hawaii’s first ruler.

Visitors from all over the world continue to make Lahaina the constant center of action in Maui.
